This book prices the look for a rental. Paint colours are named for two brands. Products are named by retailer so you know what to search for. Every project in it uses a removable or reversible method.
What is in the 41 pages
Seven opening pages set the style up: era and origin, materials, references, the colour palette, and master finishes. Sixteen pages cover four rooms. The rest is a renter playbook: rules, proportions, room commitments, a style diagnostic, maker provenance, eight projects, a thrift guide, substitutions, and a two-page shopping index.
The four rooms
Living room, bedroom, kitchen and dining, bathroom. Each room gets four pages: the room itself, an education spread, a mixed moodboard, and a shop-the-look page.
Paint and materials
Five paint colours, each with a Benjamin Moore name and code and a Sherwin-Williams name and code. Soft White is BM White Dove OC-17 or SW Alabaster 7008. Six signature materials: pale oak, blonde ash, birch veneer, natural linen, wool, and matte black steel.
The shopping index
Twenty items grouped by room, each with a price band and the page it appears on. A low-back oat linen sofa runs $750 to $1,050. An oak dining table runs $450 to $650.
Weekend projects
Eight builds with a materials list and a running cost, from $12 to $180. An oak floating shelf, a linen curtain install, a matte black hardware swap, a peel-and-stick cabinet reskin, a 2700K lighting overhaul, and three more.
Renter rules and substitutions
Two pages of renter rules, then eight substitution pages: the designer piece, the cheaper piece, and why the trade holds up. A Carl Hansen Wishbone CH24 at $800 to $1,300 against an ash spindle chair at $80 to $149, with the paper-cord seat and splayed legs doing the work at dining distance.

Two pages of renter rules cover what to avoid. Hardware swaps back at move-out, curtains hide builder-grade trim, and the lighting overhaul is bulbs and lamps rather than wiring.
How do I know Scandinavian is the right style
A four-panel diagnostic asks four questions of your own room: three or more light sources, visible floor under the sofa, warm off-white on the walls, and no more than two objects on any one surface.
