A 36-page Neoclassic playbook for renters. Four rooms, Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams paint codes, a 20-item shopping index with price bands, and three weekend projects.
Contemporary neoclassic is quiet grandeur: fluted forms, plaster detail and symmetry. Honed marble and travertine, white-painted oak, heavyweight greige linen and brushed gold. Classical proportion without a period-room costume.
This book prices the look for a rental. Paint colours are named for two brands. Products are named by retailer so you know what to search for. Every project in it uses a removable or reversible method.
What is in the 36 pages
Seven opening pages set the style up: era and origin, materials, references, the colour palette, and master finishes. Sixteen pages cover four rooms. The remaining 13 are a renter playbook: rules, proportions, room commitments, a style diagnostic, maker provenance, three projects, a thrift guide, substitutions, and a two-page shopping index.
The four rooms
Living Room, Bedroom, Kitchen / Dining and Bathroom. Each room gets four pages: the room itself, an education spread, a mixed moodboard, and a shop-the-look page.
Paint and materials
Five paint colours, each with a Benjamin Moore name and code and a Sherwin-Williams name and code. Warm White Plaster is BM White Dove OC-17 or SW Alabaster SW 7008. Eight signature materials: honed marble, honed travertine, white-painted solid oak, natural oak (accent), heavyweight linen, greige and velvet, stone and oatmeal, and more.
The shopping index
Twenty items grouped by room, each with a price band and the page it appears on. Cavendish fluted console runs $1,100 to $1,500. Greek key wool rug 9x12 runs $650 to $950.
Weekend projects
Three builds with a materials list and a running cost, from $20 to $95. Plaster ceiling medallion installation, classical column pedestal from lumber and ornate mirror frame upcycle.
Renter rules and substitutions
Two pages of renter rules, then eight substitution pages: the designer piece, the cheaper piece, and why the trade holds up. Restoration Hardware Cloud Sofa - $4,000-5,750 against Pottery Barn Linden sofa - $1,400-2,000.
What format is the file
PDF, 36 pages. It opens on a phone, a laptop, or a printer. No app and no login.
Are the products shown clickable
No. Retailers and product names are printed so you know what to search for. Nothing routes out to a store.
Are the prices real
They are researched estimate bands, not live quotes. Check the current figure before you buy.
Will any of this work in a rental
Two pages of renter rules cover what to avoid, and every one of the three projects uses a removable or reversible method.
How do I know Neoclassic is the right style
A four-panel diagnostic sets neoclassic beside the things it gets mistaken for: Greek Revival period room, traditional decorating, Hollywood Regency and quiet luxury minimal, with the tell for each.
